nurse practitioner unemployment rate
The unemployment rate for nurse practitioners is .7% right now, which is over 5 times lower than the US unemployment rate right now (3.9%).  NPs are typically getting multiple offers at once when they enter their job search.  According to U.S. News and World Report Best Jobs Rankings for 2017, NPs hold the #2 spot in terms of their pick for the best 100 occupations in the United States.  The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that by 2026, the field will grow by 36 percent, opening up a whopping 56,000 new positions.

What does this mean for those of us recruiting them?
1. We need to move quick on the good ones….e.g. schedule an interview within 24 hours of seeing the resume and have offers to them within 3-4 weeks of seeing the resume.
2. We need to tell our story really well (in about 3 minutes)….who we are, where we came from and where we are going (our vision)….people want to join teams that perceived to be winning teams….plus teams with a big purpose and vision.
3. Find out their unique hot buttons early – really dig into why they are looking for a new position and then subtly sell to them throughout the whole recruiting process that you are the solution to their problem.
